This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to commercialize a safe, efficient autonomous transportation network for the middle-mile, enhancing Gatik’s commercial-grade production capabilities and accelerating the deployment of Level 4 (L4) autonomous trucks for customers including Walmart, Kroger, Tyson Foods and Loblaw. We’re redefining the logistics landscape, driving unprecedented supply chain efficiencies, and creating lasting economic and societal benefits for future generations.
AI-Driven Autonomy
Advancements in AI have accelerated the development of safety-first autonomous technology, poised to transform industries that rely on trucking, including retail, grocery, eCommerce and more. With NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI technologies, AI-driven autonomy will become increasingly accessible to communities worldwide.
NVIDIA DRIVE AGX featuring the DRIVE Thor SoC, will serve as the AI brain for these next-generation self-driving trucks. Now shipping to the global transportation market, the automotive-grade DRIVE AGX Thor, which runs on the safety-certified DriveOS operating system, is built on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. DRIVE AGX Thor packs more than 1,000 trillion operations per second of high-performance compute – enabling the development and deployment of safe, autonomous trucks and other vehicles at scale.
This revolutionary architecture will provide critical support to the onboard AI-processing necessary for deploying Gatik’s Freight-Only trucks safely – and producing them at scale.
Freight-Only at Scale
Gatik’s collaboration with NVIDIA builds on our existing long-term partnership with Isuzu North America Corporation. Isuzu and Gatik have been working together since 2021 to accelerate the development of autonomous trucking across the continent. In 2024, Gatik and Isuzu committed to collaborating on the design, development, and production of an SAE L4 autonomous truck with robust and safety-critical redundant systems (including braking, steering and sensors, as well as software) with complete validation required for Freight-Only operations. Our fleet of Isuzu medium-duty vehicles is equipped with Gatik’s industry-leading autonomous technology, and NVIDIA DRIVE AGX, to safely scale Freight-Only operations for Gatik’s customer-base.
Recently, Isuzu announced the establishment of a new production facility in South Carolina. This facility, coming online in 2027, is anticipated to have an annual production capacity of approximately 50,000 vehicles by 2030, ushering in the next generation of autonomous, connected and carbon-neutral solutions. It will introduce a variable-model, variable-volume production system that can efficiently respond to changes in customer demand for electric or internal combustion-powered commercial vehicles. Our partnership with Isuzu marks the first time that an OEM and autonomy partner have committed to work together to mass produce L4 capable trucks – a crucial step beyond the R&D phases of other companies in the sector, and one which will ensure Gatik is able to meet our customers’ needs quickly, safely and at scale.
